Location

Lily is a bulb that does not request many difficulties while planting and cultivating it. Caring for it just a little can guarantee a very good result. The best location is where it can have at least six hours of daylight exposure, but it has to be repaired from wind and air blowing because they bother the plant and not just a little. When planting the bulb, be sure the soil is well drained because water stagnation can cause severe problems to both the bulb and the newly rising plant. Mold is part of those dangerous consequences. If you are growing it in vase, use some clay or sand to improve the draining potential in order to increase the chances to see the bulb blooming.

Lily care

Lily care Bulbs should be put under ground in the period that goes since spring through fall. It has to be placed in the ideal soil at least 10 to 15 cm in depth. Being an evergreen it does not need to be repotted. Since Lily needs a well drained soil, there is a specific time of the year when it needs to be watered more frequently, and this is when the bulb is in bloom. The plant should be watered with a lot of water but between watering you must be sure the soil got dried. You can suspend the irrigation during the summer because you only have to keep the soil humid and slightly wet. This will prevent molds and fungi to attack the bulbs ruining the plants. Fertilization should be performed with regularity and with a specific fertilizer.

Lily maintenance

Lilium does not need to be cut or trimmed, as long as you remove dry and rotten flowers and leaves, without having to truncate the whole plant. Although the simplicity in the growing process, lily is part of those plants which suffer from parasites and fungi. Preventing is always the best choice mostly because there is a specific virus which attacks lilies creating buds which are dangerous for the plant and they have to be removed promptly.
