It is an evergreen with small grey leaves that remain on the plant in winter. They can resist cold, therefore they can be planted in the garden, or if you want you can grow them in pots. Lavender likes sunny places, with any kind of terrain. Ordinary garden soil is good enough, provided it is not subject to water stagnation: in fact, lavender is very sensitive to excess water, so avoid watering during the cold period, and you should water in summer only when the soil is very dry, or in case of drought. Over time lavender bushes tend to lose vegetation at the bottom, revealing the bare stems. To avoid this phenomenon, when the flowers begin to wilt shorten the whole plant by at least one third, to encourage the growth of vegetation in the lower part too.
