The Beaucarnea, also called Nolina, is a semi succulent shrub native to Central and South America, where it reaches the size of a small tree. In pots it has a very slow growth and generally does not exceed 100-150 cm in height. It is a beautiful evergreen plant, with a thick succulent stem and a thick canopy, which grows in tufts. It is cultivated indoors, because it does not tolerate temperatures below 10-12 ° C. It prefers very bright locations, including in the sun if possible. Avoid placing it in a place devoid of ventilation and light, where it would quickly be attacked by scale insects. It is best cultivated in pots that are quite small, where it seems to grow best, and in a good soil that is not too rich, but very well drained. They react badly to excess watering, and should be well watered only during the summer, when the soil is dry. Periodically cut off the tips of the leaves with clean scissors if they are damaged or dried out.
