The Caladium is a herbaceous plant with growth in spring and summer. Fleshy rhizomes grow directly from the buds, which produce long stalks at the ends of which grow large heart-shaped leaves of various colours, from white to pink, typically with green margins and veins.
They can be grown as houseplants or in the garden, but at a minimum temperature of 12-15 ° C. The plant tends to develop a broad rounded shrub that can reach 50-60 cm in height. You should position your Caladium in a shady or partially shady location. During growth of the lush foliage you should water regularly, always waiting for the soil to dry between waterings. In late summer or early autumn, the foliage dries out completely, and you should suspend the watering until the following spring.
