Turmeric exposition and location

Turmeric needs hot temperatures but not too dry because it comes directly from tropical areas. When it has to go through the growing processes, it is even better to maintain the temperature under 20 degrees C. The best location is made of mixed soil but soft; it has to preferably be a little acid in order to make the plant resist with the passing of the time. Drainage is necessary most of all when the plant is developing and the quality of the soil has to be ideal for that plant.

Turmeric care

Since turmeric can grow very high, it is better to plant it in vases that are deep enough to let the plant expand in height without having to fold anywhere. You cannot buy a huge vase since the beginning though because it has to fit the real dimensions of the plant and not the final ones. Step by step you will have to change vase every time you see the plant needing more space. When you repot this plant, do not be deceived by the idea of its resistance; you should pay a lot of attention, most of all avoiding to break its roots when repotting. When you water turmeric you should do it periodically during the hot season, but you should wait for the soil to get try before watering again. When fall and winter come, you can let the plant rest without watering it because, in this way, its leaves turn yellow and they fall to leave room for new leaves. The turmeric flowers are spectacular. They smell delicious and their color is typical and charming.

    Turmeric maintenance

Turmeric Turmeric needs to be fertilized every 15 days when it has just been repotted. The liquid should be injected directly from the inside of the soil in order to let it be absorbed easily and fast, avoiding dispersions. Fertilizer should be a quality product that it has to be meant specifically for these kinds of plants. Trimming your turmeric is not that much necessary, in fact you will have to let the leaves turn yellow letting them fall, avoiding trimmings. Since its roots get really big and strong, you can divide them creating new plants. Turmeric is not easily affected by parasites or diseases, but during the winter season it is always a good idea to clear the root rot that appears leading the plant to death if you do not remove it.
