In Sicily prickly pear plants can be found growing in the wild. It has watery texture and obviously this is why it is part of the succulents family of plants. It is an evergreen plant which can reach up to five meters in height.     Prickly pears care Reproducing this plant is not as easy as planting the seeds because the new plants have very few possibilities to grow resembling the original plant. The best practice is the scion. Prickly pear trees has to be fertilized at least once a month and the fertilizer should be liquid and mixed with irrigation water. During fall and winter season there is no need for fertilization. Watering should be frequent during spring and summer while during the resting season it can be lowered down to once a month.
